Phil Jackson met with Lamar Odom, in talks of signing former Lakers player?

Is Phil Jackson starting to recruit his former players in hopes of signing them next season for his New York Knicks?

According to a report by the NY Post, the multi-titled coach and now Knicks president of basketball operations met with former Laker Lamar Odom during halftime of the Knicks-Nets game which the Knicks handily won.

The 34-year old Odom was not signed by any NBA team this season after being arrested on a DUI charge last summer and spending time in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. He attempted to come back via his old team, the LA Clippers, but was not signed. He also had a two-game stint in Spain before returning to the US to rehabilitate an injury.

Odom was a key player in the Lakers' 2009-2010 championship teams, where he joined hands with Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum to form one of the league's best trio of big men. The multi-skilled Odom was also the Sixth Man of the Year in 2011.

According to the NY Post, Jackson has admitted being on a 'talent hunt' and this could mean that he will consider signing players who are adept at his signature triangle offense. He also met with another former Laker, Metta World Peace, who was released earlier in the season by the Knicks. The same media outlet adds that World Peace is interested in coming aboard for a second stint in the Big Apple.

However, the NY Post said that Jackson has not had any conversations with embattled coach Mike Woodson. Even Woodson confirmed this by saying: "We haven't had any conversations, we had small talk here and there."
