NFL Mock Draft 5.0 Part One: Lions trade up for wide receiver; Three quarterbacks in the first round; Clowney still best in the draft? [VIDEO]

Sports World News’ official mock draft starts today with the 2014 NFL Draft 27 days away in Radio City Music Hall. We will be updating the mock draft every Friday and will be in three parts. Part one will be 1-10, part two will be 11-20 and part three will be 21-32. Here is part one:

Sports World News NFL Mock Draft 5.0 Part Three

1. Houston Texans: Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina
Against my better judgement it’s time to put Clowney in the No. 1 spot. His pro day was fantastic and knocked out all doubts teams could have had about his work ethic. Clowney isn’t ideal for a 3-4 OLB and didn't look great in OLB drills, but the talent is too great. Bill O’Brien will have to find his QB later

2. St. Louis Rams (via Redskins): Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn
The Rams have to protect the quarterback they have and they spent a first round pick on Tavon Austin last season. Robinson will play RT until Jake Long retires or declines and moves to RT. I see Jason Smith in Robinson, but for the Rams sake I hope I am wrong.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M
I think Matthews is the best OT in the draft and the Jaguars have recently had a peak in interest for Matthews. Luke Joeckel didn’t look great in his injury rattled rookie season, but with Matthews, Joeckel can move to RT full time where he will play much better.

4. Cleveland Browns: Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida
Bortles is the first QB off the board and the Browns get their latest franchise QB. Bortles has room to grow and will have plenty of toys to play with on a Browns offense that started to look like one of the sleepers going into 2014. Bortles should develop well with thr weapons at his disposal.

5. TRADE Detroit Lions (via Raiders): Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson
The rumors are that the Lions want to go and get Watkins and pair him with Calvin Johnson. I don’t agree that the Lions should move up to get a WR in such a deep class, but when you have a talent like Watkins the extra effort will be worth it.

6. Atlanta Falcons: Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo
Mack is the pass rusher the Falcons have craved for years. Mack doesnt naturally fit into the 4-3 and would be better served in the 3-4, but the Falcons are desperate for a pass rusher and Mack has enough potential and upside to make the change.

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M
Mike Williams is gone and the Bucs need a new No. 2 WR. Evans compares to Vincent Jackson so who better to teach the young Aggie than VJ himself. Evans is such a physical freak that the Bucs will be loaded for whoever ends up playing QB in the future.

8. Minnesota Vikings: Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville
Bridgewater could slide if a team feels the need to trade up with the Vikings, but word is Minnesota is one of the few teams sold on Teddy. Bridgewater was the consensus No. 1 QB months ago and that could still be the case for the Vikings. Minnesota could also jump on Derek Carr here if they like him better.

9. Buffalo Bills: Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina
I am notoriously high on Ebron and some of my peers agree he could go at No. 9. The Bills have little to nothing at TE and Ebron could be the safety blanket EJ Manuel needs. Ebron would fit great with Mike Williams and Robert Woods and the offensive line issues Buffalo has can be solved in the second round

10. Oakland Raiders (via Lions): Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State
The Raiders successfully trade back and still get their guy. Much like 2013 when the Raiders traded back to take D.J. Hayden, Oakland isn’t afraid to reach on a guy they think is special. Oakland was the one team that had interest in Carr that I believe couldn’t sign Carr’s brother David as a backup. Why else would they trade for Matt Schaub?
