NHL Playoffs 2014: Stanley Cup playoff field set

After 82 grueling games, the field is set for the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs as 16 teams vie for one of the most coveted trophies in sports. 

Here are the matchups for the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs:

In the Eastern Conference, the Eastern Conference champion Bruins take on the Red Wings as Detroit makes its 23rd cosecutive playoff appearance. The Metropolitan Division-winning Pittsburgh Penguins host their divison rival Columbus Blue Jackets, a team which clinched the top wild-card spot.

In the divisonal battles, the Metropolitan Divison's No. 2 Rangers host the No. 3 Flyers while the Atlantic Divison's No. 2 Lightning hosts the No. 3 Candiens.

The Anaheim Ducks earned the President's Trophy as the No. 1 team in the NHL and will host the Dallas Stars, which earned a playoff berth for the first time since 2008. The Colorado Avalanche host the Minnesota Wild, which earned the top wild-card spot.

In the divisonal round, the Blues host the Blackhawks in a duel for the Central while the Sharks host the Kings.

Anyhing can happen during a seven-game series when these teams take the ice with one goal in mind: to hoist the Stanley Cup.
