The Seattle Seahawks have signed another crucial veteran, as they inked corner Richard Sherman to a four-year deal worth $57.4 million including $40 million guaranteed.

Sherman joins veterans Earl Thomas and Michael Bennett as the three defensive veterans the Seahawks signed to massive extensions. Now that Seattle has Sherman locked up for the foreseeable future they can turn they attention to quarterback Russell Wilson.

Wilson is making pennies compared to the other quarterbacks in the league, considering he is still playing under his rookie contract, but that is all bound to change very soon. Wilson is sure to be the next veteran the Seahawks take care of, but there is no word on when those talks could start.
The fact that the Seahawks are starting to lock up their key veterans adds support to the rumors that the team is looking to trade out of the first round in attempt to save some cash. The money isn’t too different from the No. 32 pick to a top 15 pick in the second round, but every penny counts when they have to sign a Super Bowl winning quarterback.
The Seahawks should be very interested in trading their No. 32 pick to a quarterback needy team in an effort to jump in front of the Houston Texans. No matter what Seattle does with their first round pick they are setting their defense up for success for years to come and the next step is locking up Wilson.
