The NBA Playoffs are in full swing, but the one story that refuses to die is the Donald Sterling saga. Now that Sterling is banned from the Clippers, his estranged wife Shelly Sterling said she will fight the decision to keep the team in the family. Miami Heat star LeBron James is not in favor of that at all.
Sterling sat down with Barbra Walters and spoke of the state of the NBA.
"I will fight that decision. To be honest with you, I'm wondering if a wife of one of the owners, and there's 30 owners, did something like that, said those racial slurs, would they oust the husband? Or would they leave the husband in?”
James was not happy with Mrs. Sterling's decision try and keep the team and spoke about how the players feel from his standpoint.
"As players, we want what's right and we don't feel like no one in his family should be able to own the team.”
"At the end of the day, this is going to be a long litigation when it comes to that. This guy who's owned the team since the '80s is not going to just give the team up in a day. So we understand it's going to be long, but we want what's right.”
The NBA has decided to move forward and attempt to remove Sterling from owning the Clippers, but it will not happen overnight. The owners must vote Sterling out with a 3/4 vote and even after that Sterling said he will take the matter to court.
