Tiger Woods Injury Update: No. 2 Golfer in World Reveals 'No Timetable' for PGA Return, Calls Back Surgery Huge Success [VIDEO]

Tiger Woods' rumored return date was the British Open on July 17, but it looks like even that date is in question as Woods announced he has no timetable to return to the PGA Tour. Woods reiterated that he hasn't even started taking full swings yet and that he really has to take it day by day.

Woods spoke at the Congressional Country Club about his status and he didn’t sound overly optimistic about his immediate future.

"There really is no timetable,'' Woods said "I think that's been kind of the realization to all of this, is that there's no date.

"It's just take it on a daily basis. It's not going to be up to me whether I play or not, it's going to be up to my docs. I want to play now. It would be nice to be able to go out there today and play …"

Woods’ statement officially knocks him out of consideration for the U.S. Open on June 12 in North Carolina, but still leaves the British Open as a option until further notice. Woods spoke about the toll the injury has taken on him both physically and mentally as he can’t even go out on the course and hit a few balls.

"I miss playing. I miss being out there on the golf course and doing that," Woods said. "I miss getting out there and hitting balls like that and just playing. I miss the game.

"Forget about competing at the highest levels, I just miss being out there and just being around the golf course. As of right now, I can chip and putt, but that's it. We are going to just take it slowly, and I don't know how many more weeks I'm going to be at this pace, but at least I have something, so I'm able to actually get out there and chip and putt. But as far as full swings and that timetable about playing, I don't know. “

The British Open starts July 17 thus buying Woods another two months of recovery before attempting to retake the World Golf number one ranking from Adam Scott. Woods also remains five major tournament victories away from passing Jack Nicklaus for the all-time lead in major championships.
