The L.A. Lakers have interviewed former star player Byron Scott about the team's vacant coaching position.
ESPN reports the Lakers met with Scott on Wednesday, just hours after the team secured the No. 7 pick in the upcoming June 26 draft. The website adds the Lakers are intrigued by Scott because they feel his more disciplined style compared to that of former coach Mike D'Antoni would be more in accord with the play of veteran players such as Kobe Bryant and potentially Pau Gasol.

Scott also was once teammates with Bryant during his rookie season and Bryant is thought to hold him in high regard. Scott's history with the Lakers also spans some of the franchises most fun-filled times when he averaged 15 points, three assists and three rebounds as Magic Johnson's backcourt mate during three title-winning seasons.
The Lakers are also rumored to have recently interviewed veteran coach Mike Dunleavy for the same opening earlier this week and are on record in asserting they would look to meet with Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau if the team grants them permission to speak with him.
Kobe Bryant beefing with Mike D'Antoni?
Whoever lands the job figures to have an uphill battle coming off the team's worst season (27-55) in franchise history. Bryant played in just six games, nursing an assortment of leg injuries coming off surgery for a torn Achilles heel.
Just weeks ago, Bryant urged Lakers fans to "flush" the misery of last season down the toilet and vowed that next season "will be epic."
