WWE Payback 2014 CM Punk Return: Reasons Why 'Best in the World' Should and Shouldn't Return At Chicago PPV [VIDEO]

With WWE Payback 2014 emanating from CM Punk's hometown of Chicago, there has been a lot of speculation over whether or not the "Best in the World" will return to the ring after walking out on the WWE in January due to frustration and being burned out from the rigorous WWE schedule.

Why CM Punk Should Come Back:

Feeling burned out and in constant pain, it's easy for one to sympathize with Punk for walking out on the company, but let's not forget that the "Best in the World" is in breach of contract. Punk is under contract with the WWE until July, and walking out on the company in January means he didn't stick to his word and honor an agreement he had in place with the WWE.

Not only did Punk spurn the WWE by walking out on them despite having a contractual commitment to them, he walked out on his fans. Many WWE fans took to social media to blast the WWE for letting one of its most talented wrestlers walk out, but don't forget it was Punk's choice to leave.

Punk should come back to honor the fans that have supported him for years and helped lift him to a meteoric rise through the company ranks. The fans who pour money into merchandise sales -- which Punk reportedly still collects paychecks for -- deserve to see one of the most popular wrestlers make a return.

Between not honoring his contract, the WWE, or its fans, Punk should end his disrespect of the business and return for the Chicago event. Punk was burned out and in pain, he has had four months to recover, and now it should be time for Punk to return.

Why CM Punk Shouldn't Come Back:

The company has moved on, and apparently so has Punk. Despite not appearing in the ring for four months, Punk's name still comes up almost daily as he has appeared at various sporting events and even on AMC's Talking Dead television show.

Punk doesn't need the WWE anymore, and with the company moving in different directions without him, and Punk doing fine on his own. He doesn't need to come back to serve the last month of his contract, especially if he's not going to re-sign afterwards.

Money also isn't a necessity for Punk, as the "Straightedge Superstar" said even before quitting that he had plenty of money and didn't need to come back to the ring as he has all of the money that he needs. Punk said a few months back that he had enough money to retire, and it looks as though he may honor that.

Also, what would change so much in the last four months that Punk wouldn't just be as easily frustrated with the booking? Something drove Punk over the edge to quit, and rumor has it that it was a rumored singles match between Punk and Triple H at WrestleMania XXX. Punk wasn't happy with the way that he was being booked, and what would possibly change with the booking style if he came back?

Who is to say that the WWE wouldn't just bury Punk if he returned due to the fact that they're still mad over the fact that he got up and walked out on the company and cut off all communications with the brand that helped turn him from beloved Indy wrestler into a superstar?

The Verdict: No matter which side of the fence each WWE fan is on, the fact of the matter is Punk has apparently moved on from the WWE and has no desire to return. With that in mind, it is doubtful that the "Best in the World" shows up at Payback on June 1 at the Allstate Arena in his hometown of Chicago.
