Sixteen years is not too much for Dirk Nowitzki.
The former league MVP, who has spent his entire career in a Dallas Mavericks uniform, said this week he plans to re-up with the team this summer when he becomes a free agent, even if it means taking less money to do so.
According to the DallasNews.com, over the last few days the Rockets have made it known they could have interest in the veteran forward should he hit the open market.
"Houston plans to pursue the major stars who could be available upon opting out of deals, including Miami's LeBron James and Chris Bosh and New York's Carmelo Anthony," The News reported. "Dirk Nowitzki is expected to be a target too."

All that prompted president of basketball operations chief Don Nelson to clarify, "obviously, Dirk's not going anywhere. He's built this franchise. He's been with us from day one. Certainly, there's negotiations to take place, but he loves this city and he wants to call it his home. We certainly reciprocate those feelings, so our hope is we'll get something done that's not only in Dirk's best interests, but also affects the flexibility of the future of the Mavericks."
Nowitzki has averaged at least 20 points in 13 of his seasons in Dallas, including 2007-08 when he averaged 24 points, nine rebounds and four assists in being tabbed league MVP.
