Goals: Colombia—James 64’ Quintero 70’; Ivory Coast—Gervinho 73’
An onslaught of second half efficiency allowed Colombia to capture a 2-1 victory over Ivory Coast on Thursday. Goals from James Rodriguez and Juan Quintero secured Colombia’s qualification for the Round of 16. The goal of the day, however, belonged to the individual efforts of Ivory Coast’s Gervinho.

Goals: Uruguay—Suarez 39’ ; England—Rooney 75'
A transcendent performance saw Uruguay capture a much-needed 2-1 victory over England on Thursday, awarding the team its first three points of the tournament. A Luis Suarez opener was countered by a Wayne Rooney equalizer in the second half, but the footballing talents of Suarez was too much for England to handle. An emphatic match-winner in the 85th minute kept Uruguay’s World Cup dreams alive.

Goals: None
Ninety minutes of uninspired football saw the match between Japan and Greece finish scoreless. A second yellow for Konstantinos Katsouranis in the 38th minute reduced Greece to 10 men. Literally, nothing else is worthy of mention.
