Aaron Hernandez Murder Case Update: Judge To Set Trial Dates In NFL Vet's Double-Murder Case [VIDEO]

Former NFL veteran Aaron Hernandez is due in court on Tuesday to solidify trial dates on the first-degree murder charges he faces in a 2012 drive-by shooting in downtown Boston.

The Boston Herald reported the 24-year-old Hernandez is slated to appear in Suffolk Superior Court before Judge Jeffrey Locke in connection with the July 2012 slayings of Safiro Furtado and Daniel de Abreu. Both men died in a hail of bullets outside a Theatre District nightclub in an early-morning shooting police said was sparked by one of the men accidentally spilling a drink on Hernandez and not apologizing.

Hernandez also faces first-degree murder charges in the June 2013, execution style killing of one-time associate Odin Lloyd. Investigators have speculated Hernandez may have killed Lloyd because of his knowledge about other violent crimes he is alleged to have been involved in. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty in both cases.

Hernandez remains jailed without bail and confined to solitary confinement at the Bristol County Jail. Since being incarcerated, authorities have also charged him with threatening to kill a prison guard and his family.

Last week, attorneys for Hernandez filed formal documents seeking a request to a different prison facility. In their filings, attorneys argued Hernandez now fears possible retribution from other guards at the jail.

Recently, Hernandez was also moved to an even more remote area of the prison after he allegedly attacked and savagely beat another prisoner while the man was still handcuffed.
