Algeria continued to surprise in the first half of this Round of 16 matchup with the Germans, as they tried to push the pace vs. Germany, and refused to wilt against their methodical attack. Despite getting outshot 7-4 by the Germans, and 4-1 in shots on goal, Algerian keeper Rais M'Bolhi stood tall and stopped four shots before halftime.
In the second half the German onslaught continued, but a Herculean M'Bolhi was undeterred. He saved 10 shots into extra time, before the Germans finally broke through with a goal off the left foot of reserve Andre Schurrle at 96'.
The Germans tacked on a second goal from Mesut Oezil at 119'. Algeria finally nedtted a goal at 120'+1, but it was too little too late.
