Rex Ryan: Patriots of No Concern to the Jets, But Patriots 'Need to Worry About Us' [VIDEO]

Rex Ryan is not done talking, and that's bad news for somebody - although who exactly is unclear.

Rex Ryan: New York Jets will make the playoffs in 2014

Two days after saying he believed his New York Jets will be a playoff team in 2014, he made a bolder prediction, going after the team of NFL coaching genius Bill Belichick.

"Somebody asked me if we focus on New England. Bullsh-," Ryan told The New York Post. "We're focused on us. We're focused on us and how are we going to be better. I have to be honest, I don't worry about them. They need to worry about us. I think that's really where we're at now."

The reason the Patriots need to worry about the Jets?

Rex Ryan tells Mike Pettine to stop talking about the Patriots getting a copy of the Jets playbook

"Do I think that I'm a great coach? I absolutely know I'm a great coach," Ryan told the New York Daily News in a recent wide-ranging interview. "But it's not just about me. What makes a great coach is the people that surround you, the people that are with you every day. There's guys that help me be a great coach. My players help me be a great coach."

The Post went on to explain that Ryan's tenure as Jets head coach was expected to come to an end last season. The Jets were predicted to be one of the worst teams in the league in 2013, and speculation was rampant that general manager John Idzik would fire the outspoken coach at season's end.

Then, Ryan led the Jets to a respectable 8-8 record behind struggling rookie quarterback Geno Smith. He is only the fourth Jets coach to make it to a sixth season with the team, The Post reported.

In another article in the Daily News, Ryan said he expected his 2014 team to be much better than 8-8 and would have some extra games to play this coming season.

"I believe we're better than that. I believe we're a lot better than that," Ryan told the Daily News. "Eight and eight would be a hell of a disappointment for us. I'm just telling you that I believe this team is on the cusp of doing some special things. ... I'm confident we will be a playoff team."

If the Jets can advance further than the Patriots this season, Ryan's job will be safe and the Jets could contend with the Denver Broncos for a Super Bowl bid.

If Ryan's talk is hot air, his next quote could come as a defensive coordinator somewhere away from the Jets.
