The Los Angeles Lakers brought in free agent forward Michael Beasley to workout at their practice facility Wednesday and are reportedly interested in signing him to a deal.

"[Beasley] looked very good and he has been working out," a source told ESPN Los Angeles. "A tiny rust from layoff, but [he] did a good job."
Beasley, a six-year forward, averaged 7.9 points and 3.1 rebounds in 15.1 minutes with the Miami Heat last year as the team went on to fail in its attempt at a third straight NBA title, falling to the San Antonio Spurs in five games in the NBA Finals. Beasley appeared in just four of the Heat's 20 postseason games last season.

Beasley was a No. 2 overall pick by the Heat in 2008 and has career averages of 13.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. Beasley, 25, was on his second stint with the Heat last season after making stops with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Phoenix Suns.
The Lakers have been linked to Beasley in the past as Los Angeles tried to trade for him twice during the 2011-12 season in the midst of his run with the Timberwolves, but they were never able to land him and both deals fell through.
Los Angeles currently has 12 players under contract as they continue to navigate through the offseason after hiring head coach Byron Scott as the successor to Mike D'Antoni, who resigned from the team after last season.
The Lakers may in fact add the 6-foot-9, 235 pound Beasley as a way to add depth at the small forward position.
Los Angeles will look to bounce back from a franchise-worst 27-55 finish to the 2013-14 campaign, where Los Angeles missed the playoffs for the first time since 2005.
