Reports indicate that the following was taped Tuesday night for the episode of SmackDown that is set to air this Friday from Phoenix as the WWE hashes through the fallout of SummerSlam and builds toward Night of Champions on Sept. 21 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

In the main event of the evening, Roman Reigns defeated The Miz with the spear. After the match, Randy Orton came out and had a stare down with Reigns and the two brawled to end the show. Orton opened up the program and cut a promo saying Reigns won the battle at SummerSlam, but not the war.
The Miz had requested a rematch against Dolph Ziggler to Kane, but he put him in the match against Reigns instead.

Orton was supposed to have a match with Rob Van Dam, but he attacked him from behind backstage and the two brawled to the ring. Orton and RVD got counted out and Orton savagely attacked him at ringside, likely to write him off of television.
Seth Rollins was in action and defeated Jack Swagger after hitting the Curb Stomp outside of the ring and drawing the countout victory. Bo Dallas then came out and told Swagger to keep Bo-lieving and to not be Jack Zero.
In other action, Rusev defeated Sin Cara in a squash match and Stardust and Goldust knocked off Luke Harper and Erick Rowan in tag team action. Harper and Rowan attacked Goldust and Stardust after the match.
In Divas action, Natalya defeated Paige in a non-title match after AJ Lee distracted Paige by trying to take the Divas Championship away and Natalya locked her in the Sharpshooter.
This episode of SmackDown continued to focus on the aftermath of SummerSlam and build toward Night of Champions.
