Night of Champions 2014 Rumors: Backstage Reason Why Brock Lesnar Destroyed John Cena At SummerSlam Heading Into Sept. 21 Event [VIDEO]

Brock Lesnar and John Cena will be going head-to-head at Night of Champions on Sept. 21 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville and reports have surfaced over why "The Beast" was booked to win so dominantly over Cena at SummerSlam Sunday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that the idea to have Lesnar defeat Cena in such a dominant fashion at SummerSlam was to put Lesnar over as strong as possible as a dominant monster in order to separate him from the pack from the other WWE Superstars, especially coming off of ending The Streak of The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX.

The WWE also wanted to make Cena look strong by not giving up after getting brutally beaten by Lesnar. The idea was to get Cena over for not quitting after a situation as brutal as the beating he received from Lesnar and for wanting to get back in the ring with him.

It is possible that the WWE will ride the Cena not giving up wave into a victory over Lesnar at Night of Champions that would give Cena the belt back due to Lesnar's part-time schedule, but that remains to be seen.

There have been rumors that Lesnar may end up battling Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 31 in March 2015, possibly for the title. There has also been speculation that Reigns might win the Royal Rumble match in January by last eliminating his former Shield partners Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins, but it all remains to be seen.

While Lesnar vs. Cena is the only official match for Night of Champions so far, there are rumors that Chris Jericho will face Bray Wyatt in a stipulation match and Sheamus will defend the United States Championship against Cesaro while an Intercontinental Championship match between Dolph Ziggler and The Miz is also likely.

Regarding Lesnar, the WWE filmed segments with him backstage on RAW Monday night in Las Vegas to air on future episodes of the flagship program since Lesnar will not be there every week for the buildup to his match with Cena.

Lesnar and Cena will clash for the second consecutive pay-per-view at Night of Champions Sunday night at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
