Owner Shovels Coors Field: Rockies' Monfort Shovels Field Before Doubleheader

Colorado Rockies owner Dick Monfort and general manager Dan O'Dowd helped shovel Coors Field to squeeze in a doubleheader on Tuesday against the New York Mets, according to ESPN.com. Despite the effort, however, the game still remains in a delay.

No new start time has been announced yet. The game was scheduled for 3:10 p.m. EDT, with the nightcap set for 8:40 p.m.

Monfort and O'Dowd joined the grounds crew members and attempted to remove most of the eight inches of snow from the oufield. Workers still have to clear snow that is pilled in front of the home dugout and down the right-field line.

The temperature at first pitc for the afternoon game will be around 38 degrees, making the game one of the top-10 coldest games in the field's history. The record is 28 degrees on April 12, 1997, against the then-Montreal Expos.

Colorado (8-4) will start Juan Nicasio (1-0). New York (7-4) will have Dillon Gee (0-2) on the mound on Tuesday.
