WWE Rumors: Backstage News On Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's Return, 'The Great One' Addresses Comeback [VIDEO]

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson made a surprise return Monday night on WWE RAW as he confronted Rusev and got into an altercation with him live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

The Rock complimented Lana on her looks and said Rusev was an impressive beast, but he also insulted the two before getting into a physical altercation with Rusev and knocking him out of the ring.

Johnson was in New York City because he was doing some work for Time Warner, which he revealed during the day on Twitter, so the WWE being in Brooklyn was a great happenstance:

Johnson spoke about his return on RAW Backstage Fallout on the WWE's YouTube channel.

"So we wanted to do something special for the crowd tonight, we wanted to do something special for the people," The Rock said. "And we created this moment. So you know what happens is for a moment like this it's the WWE Universe...We want to create a great moment for them and it requires a lot of other elements and a lot of elements to come together to keep it private, to keep it quiet. Nobody knew except for me sending out a tweet three seconds before I went out but that's okay."

He added: "So it requires a lot of elements so there were a lot of people who were able to make it happen, keep it very low-low -- low-low is a cool term by the way we say in the south. Going out there, it's so special when you go out there because I've got a pretty cool job and I'm very happy to do what I do. I make movies and being on sets all around the world, but there is absolutely nothing...nothing that can ever compare to that type of reaction and emotional connection with the people and I absolutely love it. So I think they enjoyed it tonight, I enjoyed it and because they enjoyed it, I enjoyed it even more."

According to PWInsider, the WWE did not bring The Rock into New York City, so he really was there for business with Time Warner. The report also indicates that he wasn't listed on early versions of the script, so it may have just been good timing on the part of the WWE by being in New York at the same time as The Rock.

John Cena tweeted at The Rock after his comeback:

Johnson has remained open to wrestling another match in the WWE, and it is possible that the two sides get together for a project leading into WrestleMania 31 next March.
