WWE Rumors: John Cena Speculates On 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin Returning To WWE [VIDEO]

There have been rumors that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin might return to the WWE and that he is training hard for a potential comeback -- possibly at WrestleMania 31 -- and John Cena recently discussed the speculation.

Cena spoke to The Rakayat Post while doing promotional work for the WWE in Malaysia and said that he is hopeful Austin will return.

"I hope that his return to the ring is imminent," Cena told the publication. "He has been training really hard and is in great shape."

Austin hasn't wrestled for the WWE since a 2003 encounter with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson at WrestleMania XIX in what was the final battle of their WrestleMania trilogy.

Austin has been inconsistent in his responses about a comeback as he told radio host Sam Roberts he had no hunger to return the squared circle while he hinted to PWTorch that he could return at WrestleMania 31 or32.

Austin also said he was training hard on his podcast for a return, but his friend and fellow WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross cautioned that people shouldn't read too far into it.

Austin has been rumored for a match at the Show of Shows on March 31, 2015 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., but no plans have leaked as far as who he would face.

Another match the WWE has been hinting at that has led to speculation of a WrestleMania 31 bout is The Rock vs. Triple H as the two had a segment on the 15th anniversary edition of SmackDown that aired on Friday.

Austin commented on the segment between the two, which was likely filmed during Monday Night RAW after The Rock made a surprise appearance in Brooklyn.

"Very entertaining promo between Rock and Triple H. @WWE #Smackdown15," Austin tweeted.

It remains to be seen if Austin will return, but Cena confirmed that the "Texas Rattlesnake" has been training hard and is hopeful for a return.
