Kurt Angle WWE Return: Backstage News On Olympic Gold Medalist Possibly Making WWE Comeback [VIDEO]

Tags: Kurt Angle

Kurt Angle's contract with TNA has officially expired and the Olympic gold medalist is reportedly in talks to return to the WWE -- the very place his professional wrestling career started in 1999.

PWInsider reports that sources within the company have said that the WWE is in talks with Angle regarding a possible comeback now that he is officially a free agent.

According to the report, Angle declined a full-time deal from the WWE because he feels that at this stage in his life his body wouldn't be able to handle the grinding WWE schedule and all of the travel that comes along with it.

The negotiations between the two sides are ongoing and Angle is hoping to become a part-time wrestler akin to guys like WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar and actors Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Batista.

Angle reportedly hasn't completely shut the door on a TNA return either as he feels as though TNA and president Dixie Carter were a great help to him when he struggled with personal demons that he has since overcome in recent years.

TNA had a policy in place where they weren't going to re-sign upper-tier talent to a contract until a new television deal is in place since Spike TV is dropping Impact Wrestling from its schedule in 2015, but there could be an exception made for Angle.

Angle, 45, hasn't appeared in the WWE since 2006, but he could be on his way back after an eight-year hiatus.
