Georges St. Pierre has made it clear that he doesn't know when or if he'll ever fight again, but the former UFC welterweight champion may have recently taken steps toward a return to the octagon.

UFC president Dana White and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta reportedly had lunch with St. Pierre in his hometown of Montreal on Tuesday, according to MMAMania.com. Canadian reporter Steven Chmielash spotted GSP dining with the UFC brass:

It's possible White just happened to be visiting the city and decided to meet with St. Pierre to catch up on life. But UFC fans would definitely love to see the former 170-pound champion fight again and hope this meeting means he will be returning in 2015.

St. Pierre is currently rehabbing a torn left ACL suffered in training. Zahabi revealed in September that "Rush" expects to receive medical clearance to begin MMA training this month.

This past November, St. Pierre defended the UFC welterweight championship for the ninth consecutive time with a split decision win over Johny Hendricks. Following the win he said he needed to take time away from mixed martial arts and vacated the title, but he didn't officially retire.

Meanwhile, the welterweight division is as competitive as it's ever been. Current champion Hendricks will defend his title against Robbie Lawler on Dec. 6 at UFC 181. There is a host of contenders waiting in the wings like Rory MacDonald, Carlos Condit and Matt Brown. UFC President Dana White said St. Pierre would receive an immediate title shot if he chose to return to the UFC.
