It was revealed last week that Paige and Alicia Fox will be joining the cast of Total Divas for the next set of episodes in January and one noted exception from the cast is WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee. Lee recently opened up about why she doesn't want to be on the reality show.
There were rumors following the announcement of Fox and Paige joining that Lee was kept off as a way for the WWE to punish her.
There appears to be no weight to that rumor since Lee has been open about her lack of desire to appear on the E! Network reality show so that she can just focus on wrestling.
The reason people may have thought the WWE was punishing her is because she is married to CM Punk, who left the WWE in January and is on bad terms with the company, but Lee told Turnbuckle Weekly that she just doesn't want to be on the show.
"It's been well documented for the second season they tried to get me on board. I'm not interested in being famous," Lee told the show. "I'm interested in doing my job and doing it well and that's wrestling and that's what I love. I could do it, but I wouldn't do it. I'm just happy being who I am on TV two days a week and on live events and then going into my private life, and into my little hole in the middle of nowhere and having no one talk to me about my private life."
The Total Divas midseason finale aired on E! Network Sunday night and Renee Young and Fox broke down the episode in a video released by the WWE:
The WWE also sent out a teaser for the show's return in January:
Total Divas will return in early 2015, but it will not feature Lee, the WWE Divas Champion.
