Andre Johnson Quitting on the Houston Texans? Wide Receiver Called Out But Doesn't Fight Back [VIDEO]

Andre Johnson just knew he'd be in this situation, and he was powerless to stop it. The question is whether he'll let it continue.

NFL.com said a listless Johnson didn't argue when an opponent called him out after the Houston Texans' 31-21 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. What Johnson did say is that he basically has to clear his mind and see where he is mentally.

Houston Texas unwilling to absorb $12 million cap hit to release Andre Johnson

"I just need to go to like an island or something," the 12th-year NFL veteran said when asked what he planned to do over the bye week. Johnson's comments were at the end of an interview that revealed the frustration of a man that sees another year passing him by without a chance to win a Super Bowl.

The Texans are 4-5 on the season and unlikely to make a run at the postseason. Johnson skipped the entire offseason workout program because he didn't think the team was in position to make a run at the playoffs this season and had asked for a release or a trade where he could be a contender.

First-year Houston coach Bill O'Brien wasn't about to let Johnson leave, but he may have gotten a shell of the seven-time Pro Bowler on his roster.

Johnson had two catches for 12 yards against the Eagles, prompting Philadelphia cornerback Cary Williams to say after the game that Johnson "is not the same guy."

"I don't know if he's happy," Williams said, according to Sports Radio 610, as reported by NFL.com. "I'm not sure. I know he had some disputes before the season in a couple years now. But I know Andre Johnson. I know what he's done over his career. Just the attitude. It just wasn't the same."

Williams may be on to something because Johnson had little issue with what he said.

"Maybe they see something I don't see," he told the Houston Chronicle.

"I'm trying to help the team win. But I only can do what I can do. I can't control everything. I only can control what I can. That's it. I can't block. I can't cover guys. I can't throw the ball. All I can do is run routes and try to get open and catch the ball."

Another NFL.com report said the Texans are considering benching quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick in favor or Ryan Mallett, which apparently would make Johnson happy.

But it may be too late to salvage the Texans' season. Which is why they better have a good map of islands.
