Real Madrid Transfer News: Isco Targeted By Liverpool and Manchester City for January Transfer

Enjoying the best run of form of his professional career, Real Madrid's Isco has captured the attention of a pair of Premier League heavyweights. According to Fichajes (via Goal Transfer Talk), the 22-year-old is sought after by both Liverpool and Manchester City for a potential January transfer.

An injury to Gareth Bale allotted Isco additional playing time in the Spanish capital. Now, with the Welshman returning, both Liverpool and City anticipate a drop in minutes, forcing a potential move.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti hailed the Spanish international in October, saying (via Marca): "[He] deserves to play in every match because of his ability and professionalism, but he understands he's at Real Madrid." Isco made the most of his opportunities since his manager's proclamation, adding four assists and one goal to his La Liga resume.

In 10 total appearances, his influential play netted an average 1.1 key passes.

Of the two likely Premier League suitors, Manchester City are the logical choice. Current manager Manuel Pellegrini fueled Isco's surgence at Malaga. The two propelled the club to an improbable Champions League run in 2013, before ultimately bowing out to Borussia Dortmund in the quarterfinals.

An injury to David Silva (knee), further highlights City's need for a talismanic midfielder. Isco would fill that void, but given his influence at the Santiago Bernabeu, he would come at a price tag too steep to consider.
