Wayne Rooney Could Join Chelsea This Summer.

Wayne Rooney is ready to call it quits for the Red Devils and is set on joining his best friend Ashley Cole at Chelsea.

The story is repeating itself; in 2010, Rooney said there was a "lack of ambition" at United and handed in a written transfer request and made it clear to fans and media that he wanted a move away from Old Trafford.

United local rivals Manchester City seemed set on signing the England international, and were favorites for Rooney's destination. However Rooney changed his mind and admitted he acted quickly without thinking, and signed a new contract with the club.

One of the big factors that could be playing a part in Rooney's desire to leave such a big club like United is the arrival of Dutch international, and former Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie. Since the arrival of Van Persie, he has clearly been a favorite to the coaching staff, going as far to move Rooney to another position, when he is not on the bench.

The club rushed to make a statement in response to the rumors saying that the player is not for sale.

Rooney's transfer could be waiting for the go ahead of newly appointed United coach, David Moyes, who was confirmed as the new boss a few hours ago.

Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Manchester City have all expressed high interest in the forward, but Chelsea seems to be the favorites in taking on the service of the 27-year-old striker.
