Washington Redskins Rumors: Is RG3 Out In D.C. This Offseason Unless He Shows Improvement? [VIDEO]

The Washington Redskins are one of the biggest messes in the NFL. They stand at 3-7 and are coming off their worst loss of the season, a 27-7 shellacking at home to the one-win Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

RG3, DeSean Jackson Rip Redskins Teammates

After the game, quarterback Robert Griffin III and star receiver DeSean Jackson voiced their displeasure with the current state of affairs. The former gave a provocative press conference in which he came dangerously close to ripping his teammates, while the latter posted a series of cryptic photos to Instagram that were interpreted similarly.

Griffin's comments were so noteworthy that head coach Jay Gruden even felt compelled to address them the next say, saying defiantly that RG3 "needs to worry about himself."

Redskins Coach Blasts RG3 For Postgame Comments

Now many in the league are wondering if Griffin's days in D.C. are numbered. If the Redskins continue their awful slide over the final six games of the season, the team may want to conduct a complete and transformative housecleaning, including removing the starting quarterback whom as recently as a year-and-a-half-ago was being heralded as a franchise savior and one of the best young talents in the entire NFL.

Gruden's statement also claimed that Griffin has displayed "fundamental flaws" this season with regards to his footwork and field vision. Peter King of MMQB responded that the coach's comments indicate that "Gruden doesn't like Griffin's preparation or his commitment...And I think what he said casts doubt on Griffin's long-term future with the team."

Would Washington really cut bait with RG3 at season's end? It would be a stunning turn of events after how positively his early tenure with the team was received. The Redskins also gave up so much to get him (three first round picks and a second). The easiest way for Griffin to quell these rumors is with better play. But with only six weeks left to decide his fate in Washington, he better get started.
