As the trial for former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez regarding the shooting death of a former associate, 27-year-old semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd, draws nearer, investigators recently searched Hernandez's North Attleborough, Massachusetts home for evidence believed to be worn the night of the crime.
According to reports, authorities were in Hernandez's home searching for a pair of Nike sneakers that he was believed to be wearing the night Lloyd was killed. They wanted to compare the sneaker prints to footprints left the night of the murder, but walked away empty-handed.
Court records say that in a video shot inside of Hernandez's home investigators spotted three pairs of shoes that Hernandez and his suspected accomplices Ernest Wallace and Carlos Ortiz were wearing when Lloyd was shot.
In other news, Hernandez was given a bit of a respite by a Massachusetts judge regarding a double-murder case in which he's accused of gunning down two men, Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado, following an incident in a Boston nightclub.
The two men allegedly spilled a drink on Hernandez, who had been feeling that people on the club scene were beginning to disrespect him. He is accused of leaving the club, waiting for the two men to leave, then pulling up alongside them as they waited at a red light and shot them.
Hernandez's defense attorneys asked the judge for a six-month delay so they could focus on the Lloyd case, which was granted. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to all of the murders.
