Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier Fight: Anthony Johnson Hoping For Division Shakeup, Rooting Against 'Bones'?

The title fight between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier already had plenty of people buzzing, but now other UFC light heavyweights are weighing in with their thoughts. Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony Johnson have both expressed a preference for who comes away from UFC 182 with the title, and they have different views on the matter.

Jones To Headline UFC Australia?

Gustafsson has already stated that he hopes that Jones retains the title becase he wants to be the one to take the title from the man they call Bones. Johnson, however is hoping for a different outcome, according to media reports. Johnson is pulling for Cormier to upset the reigning champion.

"I want Daniel Cormier to win, just to shake up the division a little bit, but he is fighting Jones so that's going to be tough to do," said Johnson. "I want him to shake up the division, give people something to talk about. It would be nice for a change to hear another name, but Jones is a beast and he's going to keep doing what he has to do to win."

Bones Spars With UFC Legend Silva

Johnson went on to say that he also wants Cormier to win because, in his mind, Gustafsson beat Jones already at UFC 165. Jones won the fight by decision, but Johnson says he was "shocked" when that decision was handed down.

The conflicting interests between Johnson and Gustafsson are particularly interesting because those two fighters will face each other at UFC 183, with the winner getting a title shot against either Cormier or Jones.

The much-hyped match between Jones and Cormier will take place on January 3, 2015. The bout has had an especially long buildup due to an injury to Jones that pushed the fight back from its originally scheduled date back in September. But if anything, the longer buildup has only intensified the anticipation.
