Terrell Owens Says Not Retired? 'I Could Be a 1,200-Yard Receiver Right Now' [VIDEO]

Now that he lost his day job, Terrell Owens is again knocking on the NFL's doors.

After essentially firing himself from the "Celebrity Apprentice," as TMZ Sports reported, Owens conducted an interview with SINow.com in which he said he still would be one of the most productive players at his position in the game.

Terrell Owens lobbies for job with the Chicago Bears after injury to Brandon Marshall

The interview began with the revelation that Owens said he never officially said goodbye to the NFL.

"I haven't retired. I haven't officially retired," he said. "The last couple of seasons I've maintained a little bit of a level of endurance and in a little bit of shape just in case someone needed a receiver. I know I could add some value to the receiver position, considering the way the league is now.

"I guarantee you I could be at least an 1,100-1,200-yard receiver, considering the way - they can't even touch guys now. Without a doubt (he could amass more than 1,000 yards)."

T.O. explains how he lost most of his $80 million

Owens lobbied for a job with the Chicago Bears during the season after Brandon Marshall was lost for the season with an injury. But even if the Bears were interested - and no one in the organization admitted as much - they had no reason to take T.O., unless they wanted a side show to take the focus off a season gone wrong that included the play of quarterback Jay Cutler.

Owens hasn't played an NFL game since 2010 as a member of the Cincinnati Bengals. He spent some time in the Seattle Seahawks' training camp in 2012 but didn't make the opening-day roster.

That has not deterred Owens, who is convinced he should be in the NFL, even at 41 years old.

"I'm not saying that just to broadcast or sell myself," Owens said. "People have seen me and they've seen me train. I've trained with a lot of guys prior to this season, guys like Antonio Cromartie and some guys from the Jets they're like 'Dude, why aren't you playing? You should be playing.'

"But like I said, I understand that perception is reality for a lot of people, and again like I said, unfairly criticized throughout my career, the things that I did, which was entertainment, it was fun for the game."

"In terms of my character, they asked a lot of people about me that probably didn't like me but it is what it is."
