Tom Brady has responded to Ray Lewis' claims that the three-time Super Bowl winner is only famous because of the Tuck Rule, and Brady took the high road.
The New England quarterback told reporters at Patriots practice that he was aware of the remarks made against him.
“Yes, they told me that, yeah, everyone has an opinion,” said Brady, via USA Today's For The Win blog. “I think Ray’s a great player. He’s a first ballot Hall of Famer. I was fortunate enough to play against him.”
Lewis was a guest on Stephen A. Smith's radio show Wednesday. During a discussion of the Dez Bryant catch that wasn't from last Sunday (thanks to 'The Calvin Johnson Rule'), the former Ravens linebracker went on a tangent about the Patriots QB, and a similarly obscure rule that affected a major playoff moment.
"The only reason we know who Tom Brady is, because of a tuck rule!" said Lewis. "There's no such thing as a tuck rule! If the ball is in your hand, and I knock it out your hand, whether it's going backwards, forwards, lateral, sideways, however it's coming out, that's a freaking fumble!
"But guess what we created? We created a freaking tuck rule!"
Regardless of how Tom Brady's legacy started, he has a chance to add onto it on Sunday, when the Patriots take on the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship Game.
