Macho Man Hall of Fame: 5 Best Matches Of Randy Savage's WWE Career [VIDEO]

The WWE revealed on Monday Night RAW what many fans have been clamoring for over the last several years as the "Macho Man" Randy Savage will finally be inducted into the Hall of Fame in the Class of 2015.

Savage, who untimely passed away in 2011 after suffering a heart attack while driving with his wife, is known as one of the most charismatic showman in wrestling history with his zany off-the-wall promos, solid in-ring ability and penchant for going from zero to 100 in intensity in just a matter of seconds.

Savage rose to fame in the WWE during the mid-1980s and remained a key piece of the organization until 1994, winning two WWE Championships and the Intercontinental Championship once before marching on to WCW.

In honor of Savage's overdue Hall of Fame induction, we take a look at his Top 5 matches in WWE history.

5) Savage vs. Bret "Hitman" Hart, Saturday Night's Main Event: While they unfortunately never clashed when both were big singles stars in the WWE, Savage and Hart went head-to-head in a fantastic back-and-forth match on Saturday Night's Main Event on Nov. 28, 1987. In the end, Savage stood tall after Hart tried to suplex him into the ring from the outside and the "Macho Man" rolled him up for the three-count.

4) Savage vs. Ric Flair, WrestleMania VIII: With a heel WWE Champion Ric Flair claiming to have had an affair with Savage's on-screen manager and real-life wife Miss Elizabeth, the two were set to clash on April 5, 1992 at the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis. Hell bent on revenge, Savage fought Flair in a meticulously planned out bout that saw the two try to one-up each other until Savage finally got the better of Flair with a small package to win his second and final WWE Championship.

3) Savage vs. Hulk Hogan, WrestleMania V: Savage won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania IV with the help of Hulk Hogan and the two united as a tag team known as "The Mega Powers." Over the course of the year, the friendship deteriorated and Savage ended up turning heel and attacking Hogan. The two set out to settle their differences on April 2, 1989, live from the same place where Savage won the title a year prior at Trump Plaza in New Jersey. The match itself was fantastic with lots of back-and-forth action. Though Savage came up on the losing end, it was one of his best bouts in the squared circle.

2) Savage vs. Ultimate Warrior, WrestleMania VII: After Savage, under his heel moniker "The Macho King," cost Warrior the WWE Championship at the 1991 Royal Rumble, the two engaged in a feud that ended in a career-ending match on March 24, 1991, in Los Angeles. Savage carried The Warrior to arguably his best match in the WWE as the two stole the show and had the crowd in the palm of their hands by telling a great story in the ring before Warrior was able to put Savage away. After the bout, Savage had an emotional reunion with Elizabeth and became a babyface again, eventually returning to the ring as the Macho Man in November of that year.

1) Savage vs. Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, WrestleMania III: Obviously this is No. 1 as almost three decades later it holds up as one of the greatest matches in the history of the WWE. Savage, a hated heel, held the Intercontinental Championship and took on beloved babyface Ricky Steamboat in front of an alleged crowd of over 93,000 at the Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan on March 29, 1987. The two went toe-to-toe and matched each other move-for-move for nearly 15 minutes in front of a raucous crowd. In the end, Steamboat stood tall, but it was yet another great match in the career of Savage.

Savage will take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2015 on the eve of WrestleMania 31, on March 28 at the SAP Center in San Jose.
