Aaron Hernandez Murder Case Update: Gun Runner Caught Shipping Weapons To Ex-Patriot's Home Won't Testify

Aaron Hernandez's trial for the murder of 27-year-old semipro football player Odin Lloyd is set to begin soon, and a Miami gun runner pleaded guilty yesterday to shipping guns to Hernandez's home.

That isn't expected to be a big deal for Hernandez's defense however, as 24-year-old Oscar "Papoo" Hernandez, who is not a relative of Aaron, isn't expected to testify against the former New England Patriots' star tight end despite being listed as a prosecution witness.

"He's not a witness. I can't make it any clearer," defense attorney Charles P. McGinty said.

Aaron Hernandez is considered an "uncharged third party" in the case against Oscar Hernandez. The latter delivered an FEG assault rifle and two handguns to Aaron Hernandez's address at the time in a Toyota Camry that was bought in Florida for $1,500. "Financial links" connected the two Hernandezes, according to assistant U.S. Attorney Glenn MacKinlay, and authorities reportedly found Aaron Hernandez's palm print on the FEG in 2013 while investigating a June 2013 murder in North Attleboro.

A more pressing problem for Aaron Hernandez's defense team might be his own fiancée Shayanna Jenkins, who is believed to have disposed of the still-unrecovered murder weapon. Court documents imply that Hernandez sent Jenkins a coded text describing where the gun was.

"Go in back of the screen in movie room when u get home an there is the box avielle likes to play with in the tub jus in case u were looking for it!!!! Member how u ruined that big tv lmao WAS JUST THINKIN bout that lol wink wink love u TTYL ..... K," Hernandez texted her per court documents.

At the time prosecutors said, "She was asked what she did to the item that Mr. Hernandez instructed her to get rid of; she repeatedly told the grand jury that she couldn't remember, she didn't know, she'd thrown it in a dumpster, and she couldn't tell anybody where it was."

Reports recently surfaced that Jenkins may have been offered immunity in exchange for her testimony against Hernandez.
