Ray Rice Detroit Lions Rumors: Reggie Bush Replacement Suggested By Haloti Ngata

The Detroit Lions have had one of the more eventful free agency periods of any team in the league so far (except for the Eagles; those guys are blowing everyone away in terms of activity). The team watched both of its star defensive tackles walk away, and they pulled off a big trade to bring in another All Pro defensive lineman.

Haloti Ngata came to Detroit via trade from the Baltimore Ravens, and he should help a lot when it comes to Detroit maintaining their standing as one of the league's elite defenses. According to CBS Sports, Ngata also has some ideas for how to improve the team with personnel moves.

With Reggie Bush on his way out of Detroit, the Lions may be interested in adding another running back, and Ngata is going on record as suggesting that the team bring former Raven Ray Rice into the fold.

Rice missed all of 2014 after his suspension and release following the domestic violence incident between he and his now-wife Janay. He maintains that he has stayed in great shape, however, and he wants another chance to play pro football.

"I've never hung out with him off-field, but he's a great guy," Ngata said. "He's a great guy on the field, in the locker room. He's a great community guy. He does a lot for the community, and so of course I think he would be a great addition to this team. I love playing with him, I trusted him. You feel bad for his situation. You just hope nothing but the best for him."

The Lions have not given any indications that they intend to sign Rice.
