There are a lot of mixed opinions in the WWE Universe surrounding the WrestleMania 31 main event pitting Brock Lesnar against Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, but Hall of Fame announcer Jim Ross believes it's too early to judge the card.

Ross appeared on the Under the Mat Radio Show and defended the match lineup for March 29 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

"WrestleMania is a special event and it will always be a special event no matter the card." Ross told the show, according to Wrestlingheadlines.com. "We're in the age were everyone is going to second guess big events and cards more often than not until they see it. I find it amazing that some people have the ability to judge a card before it happens..."

Ross also touched on the memories WrestleMania brings to mind, especially after he made his WWE debut at WrestleMania IX in 1993 from Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.

"WrestleMania IX was a matter of migrating into the world of WWE from the world of WCW and having your first assignment be the play by play for WrestleMania," Ross said. "It was a pretty auspicious way to start I mean where do you go from there? So I'd say WrestleMania IX. The first one, you always remember the first one..."

The 2007 WWE Hall of Fame inductee also said that he didn't change anything about his play-by-play style when he transitioned from WCW to WWE and eventually called multiple WrestleManias while becoming the voice of the company.

"I didn't change a thing; I didn't change anything that I did," he said. "You call a wrestling show based on what you see and not based on what you want to see or what you want to hear or say. The wrestlers provide the music and the announcer provides the lyric..."

Lastly, Ross touched on fans insisting that Chris Benoit be inducted into the Hall of Fame despite the double murder-suicide he committed on his wife and son in 2007.

"They (fans) ask me don't you feel Chris Benoit should be in the Hall of Fame and I say no I don't," Ross said. "I get them saying, Oh you guys are being etc...' I don't work for WWE, who in the hell are guys?? And who are you to tell me what I have to do? What are you 13 in your parents basement? It Benoit could communicate right now he'd say, 'No I'd be a distraction..."
