WWE Rumors: Seth Rollins Wants To Face Sami Zayn, WWE Champion Calls NXT Star 'Resilient Performer' [VIDEO]

Reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins hopes to face a former NXT Heavyweight Champion somewhere down the line as "The Architect" said he wants to meet Sami Zayn in the middle of the ring.

Rollins spoke with The Sun in the U.K. to promote the WWE's European tour and he said out of all the talents in NXT, he'd like to go face-to-face with Zayn.

"Probably Sami Zayn," Rollins told the publication. "He's a guy who is one of the most resilient performers that we've ever seen, and he's got an incredible connection with the audience. No offense to Finn Balor, but he doesn't need a crazy entrance and body paint, he doesn't have all the wild athleticism that Neville has, he doesn't necessarily have the wits about him that a Kevin Owens does, or the fanfare of Hideo Itami, but he has that little intangible that sets him apart from everybody else."

Rollins won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in shocking fashion at WrestleMania 31 after cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase and pinning Roman Reigns at Levi's Stadium.

Zayn became the fifth NXT Heavyweight Champion in history when he ended Adrian Neville's lengthy reign, but he then dropped the title to Kevin Owens at NXT Takeover: Rival in February.

Rollins is set for his first major title defense against Randy Orton at Extreme Rules on April 26 at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill.

"The Viper" defeated the former Architect of The Shield at WrestleMania 31 before Rollins went on to win the gold. Orton also never got a rematch after dropping the title to Daniel Bryan, who pinned Batista, in a Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania XXX.

Rollins talked about his loss to Orton with the publication.

"It takes two to tango I suppose so I guess [after] being on the receiving end of an RKO that people are pretty pleased about [me winning the belt]. [It is] a consolation for losing that match, although was hoping to catch up to Undertaker on the WrestleMania winning streak," Rollins said.

It was determined on Monday Night RAW this week from London that Rollins and Orton will do battle in a steel cage at Extreme Rules and Orton's RKO is banned from use in the bout. Orton picked the cage stipulation while Rollins took away his finisher.

Rollins said he enjoyed being in the U.K. and on the WWE's European tour representing the company as its champion.

"I love it over here it's great," he said. "I think the big thing is that we're only over here twice a year so there doesn't appear to be an oversaturation of WWE in the British market. The fans seem very excited to see us, they're very respectful during the matches and just enjoy watching us perform. It's very refreshing to have that emphasis put back to what we're doing in the ring. The crowds are electric so it's a pleasure to come over here and work in front of the British fans."
