AJ Lee's departure from the WWE could be the best thing that ever happened to WWE Diva Naomi.

Naomi was booked to turn heel on Paige this past week on Monday Night RAW as she savagely attacked the two-time Divas Champion after she won a battle royal in her native England to become the No. 1 contender for Nikki Bella's title.
According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, the heel turn was originally slated for Lee, but the WWE had to shuffle its plans when the Diva decided to retire from the company earlier this month.

Lee, who is married to CM Punk, decided to walk away from the ring in a decision that likely had to do with her husband's pending legal suit with WWE doctor Chris Amann.
Dr. Amann sued Punk after he appeared on Colt Cabana's podcast and revealed why he left the WWE. "The Best in the World" told Cabana that Dr. Amann allegedly misdiagnosed him on several occasions and the doctor swiftly responded with a lawsuit.
That is the likely reason why Lee decided to end her WWE run over a year after Punk walked out on the WWE, which was in January 2014.
Naomi has now been slotted into Lee's spot and the WWE likely turned her because The Usos won't be teaming up for a few months with Jey Uso recently undergoing surgery on his shoulder.
There were plans in place for Naomi to turn heel a few months ago during the feud with her husband Jimmy Uso and The Miz, but it never came to fruition.
Lee and Paige had formed a team and united to take down the Bella twins. The duo got a win over the sisters at WrestleMania 31with Lee making Nikki Bella tap to the Black Widow. It has since been reported that if the WWE knew Lee was leaving, it likely would have been booked differently.
The WWE was building up to a slow heel turn for Lee, which would have led to a feud between her and Paige, but now Naomi has taken the spot.
Naomi is the latest Diva to turn heel despite being romantically linked to a babyface Superstar as Nikki Bella is dating United States Champion John Cena and Brie Bella is married to Intercontinental Champion Daniel Bryan.
Regarding Paige, though she is the No. 1 contender for the Divas Championship against Nikki at Extreme Rules on April 26 at the Allstate Arena in Illinois, she likely won't be participating in that match after the beat down by Naomi.
The WWE wrote Paige off of television so that she could film the WWE Studios' Santa's Little Helper with The Miz, and the WWE worked the Naomi heel turn into an injury angle for her.
Paige took to Twitter to update her storyline status, laying more credence to the notion that she won't be at Extreme Rules.

It remains to be seen who Bella will face on April 26, but it likely will no longer be Paige.
