The host nation West Indies cricket team used a late charge last week to draw England in a tie in their first test series showcase, but England and the elements had conspired to cut into their momentum on day one of this second test.
A superb performance by Englands bowlers kept the Windies four down before the first tea time, and a mid-afternoon rain delay hurt the batting team's chances of building a coherent attack thereafter.
