Having to prioritize two tournaments this summer—the 2015 Gold Cup and Copa America—Mexico showed its hand on Tuesday. The regional tournament, not the intercontinental tournament, will be prioritized.
Miguel Herrera unveiled a preliminary 23-man squad for a summer in Chile and it contains just four players based in Europe. Left off the list are the usual suspects, Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, Giovani Dos Santos and Guillermo Ochoa.

Only Rafa Marquez would've seen first-team minutes at the Gold Cup, but there are still enough pieces for El Tri to field a formidable lineup.

Players are due to meet up in Mexico City on May 17 to begin preparations. Mexico will play a farewell match against Guatemala in Chiapas on Saturday, May 30, before heading to South America for games against Peru (June 3 in Lima) and Brazil (June 7 in Sao Paulo).
