Alex Rodriguez Believes New York Yankees, MLB Officials Conspiring Against Him

Alex Rodriguez is convinced the New York Yankees and Major League Baseball officials are conspiring against him and has launched a campaign aimed at preserving his baseball career as well as the remaining salary on his $275 million contract.

Facing what ESPN is reporting could be a lifetime ban over his alleged steroids abuse, Rodriguez has decided to take his behind-the-scenes battle public the website reported.

In a coordinated, full-fledged media blitz, Rodriguez’s representatives, including a physician who disputed the team’s prognosis of his condition following a quad strain, have begun offering and supplying details to support his claims of innocence from performance enhancing drugs use allegations.

"He feels he has no choice," a source close to Rodriguez told ESPN. "He wants to play, and they won't let him play. Nobody knows Alex's body better than he does."

Days after suspending Milwaukee Brewers former MVP Ryan Braun for the remainder of the season over steroid use stemming from the same Biogenesis Clinic probe in which Rodriguez has been implicated, speculation is Rodriguez could receive a much stiffer sentence than the 65 games imposed on Braun.  Some have even speculated MLB officials might be seeking a lifetime ban against him.

It’s amid that backdrop that Rodriguez, who continues to profess his innocence, has concluded the Yanks have no interest in having him return to the field are only stringing him along until MLB officials can make their final determination as to what they plan to do with him.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman did not immediately return a call seeking comment about the team cutting short Rodriguez’s minor league rehab assignment short last week, but a source claiming to have knowledge of the original conversation between the team and Rodriguez told ESPN it was Rodriguez who first brought the news of his quad injury to the team.

"He told them he couldn't play third base on Saturday, and he told them he couldn't play at all on Sunday," said the source.

The Yankees maintain Rodriguez, who will turn 38 on Saturday, is not fit to play, while Rodriguez insists he is and believes the team is simply stalling in an effort to aid MLB officials.
