Cleveland Cavaliers veteran guard Daniel “Boobie” Gibson, the husband of RB singer Keyshia Cole, has been arrested in New Orleans on assault and battery charges.
According to TMZ, Gibson, 27, turned himself in to police sometime Monday morning and was released from custody just before noon. Beyond that, details of his arrest remain unclear, including whom he is charged with assaulting. TMZ said the incident is believed to have taken place earlier this month during the annual Essence Festival.
Gibson played in just 46 games last season and averaged a shade over five points a night while battling a string of lingering injuries. His best season came during the 2010-11 campaign when he averaged 11.6 points, 3 assists and 2.6 rebounds for the Cavs.
Gibson and Cole were wed in 2011 and soon thereafter begin starring in a B.E.T. reality show called Keyshia and Daniel: Family First. In 2010, they had their first child together, Daniel Hiram Gibson.
Cole was also recently in the media for all the wrong reasons after engaging in an nasty Twitter spat with followers over public criticisms she made of Beyonce’s hit song “Bow Down (I Been On).”
“Can’t stand when people all self-righteous when it’s convenient… it makes them look good,” Cole posted. “Lmao! But can still talk s--t when convenient 2 FOH.”
