Real Madrid Transfer News: Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez Returns to Manchester United, Karim Benzema to Follow

Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez's spell at Real Madrid is finally over. The 26-year-old old returned to Manchester United from a season-long loan after Madrid decided against a deal to permanently acquire his services.

Hernandez made 33 appearances for the Spanish side, largely in garbage time, but finished his campaign with nine goals.

The question now becomes, what's next for the Mexican international?

A future at Manchester United is unlikely given manager Louis van Gaal's lack of first-team plans for him. According to the Mirror, he will be told to find a new club for the remaining 12 months of his deal. Per the report, Tottenham, Everton and Valencia have all been linked with a summer transfer.

Potentially following Hernandez to Manchester, at least according to the Guardian, is fellow striker Karim Benzema.

The Frenchman is being monitored by van Gaal and would cost the Red Devils roughly £40 million. Arsenal are also rumored to be interested.

Benzema scored 22 goals in 46 appearances this season, boasting 10 additional assists. Given Falcao's inability to find his form and Robin van Persie's inability to stay fit, Benzema would serve as an immediate upgrade at Old Trafford.

Just don't expect a mass exodus from the Santiago Bernabeu.

Carlo Ancelotti's sacking will not be sufficient enough for any of Madrid's top stars to search for greener pastures. Sufficiently high wages, Champions League football and the promise of competing for multiple trophies at the world's biggest club is enough to resist the temptation of being lured elsewhere.
