According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, the Bulgarian Brute appeared to injure his foot or ankle during his bout with Ryback at Tuesday's SmackDown tapings from Wilkes-Barr, Pa.

Per the report, Rusev was helped to the back by WWE trainers after he appeared to injury himself during the match.

The contest then ended abruptly after it first appeared as though the Super Athlete was just selling an injury. It then seemed as though he was really hurt following the quick finish and the trainers coming down.

The site also revealed that fans in attendance spotted Rusev with a brace on his leg sitting in a wheelchair following the tapings, which could mean changes are coming to Elimination Chamber.

Rusev is set to take part in the Elimination Chamber Match for the vacant Intercontinental Championship this Sunday at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, TX.

Joining Rusev in the bout is Ryback, R-Truth, King Barrett, Dolph Ziggler and Sheamus. It remains to be seen if the injury is serious enough to keep the mighty Russian out of the match, but there have been no updates on his status coming out of SmackDown.

This injury, if serious, could hamper a major storyline between Rusev and his former valet Lana as the two have split up in recent weeks on television.

Lana has been put in a pairing with Ziggler, creating a lot of tension between the Bulgarian Brute and The Showoff which is slated to lead to a feud so long as Rusev is healthy.

The Ziggler-Rusev element is supposed to add an extra layer to the Chamber Match, but now it remains to be seen if things will have to change.

Rusev and Lana had a falling out on RAW two weeks ago, which led to the two splitting up and the Ravishing Russian kissing Ziggler twice in the middle of the ring. The feud escalated this past week on RAW.

The WWE has been building toward a breakup between the Russian duo since a distraction from Lana caused Rusev to drop the United States Championship to Cena at WrestleMania 31, just one month after the Super Athlete defeated the Cenation leader at Fastlane.

Rusev then blamed Lana for his defeat in a Russian Chain Match against Cena at Extreme Rules last month and again after she quit for him at Payback two weeks ago in Baltimore.

There's no telling what impact this injury has on the storyline, there is certainly some concern surrounding Rusev now that he may have gotten injured.
