Conor McGregor Next Fight: 'Notorious' Speaks Up About Jon Jones' Problems

Conor McGregor has become the loudest mouth the UFC has to offer, but when it comes to Jon "Bones" Jones, McGregor tempered his usual venom while criticizing what's gone on regarding the best mixed martial artist in the world.

"I've met Jon many times. I love Jon, he's a great man, he's a great fighter, but his decisions and his choices? I don't understand how, you've got millions in the bank, how can you be out in this little desert town in Albuquerque in a little rental Buick?" McGregor said of Jones' hit-and-run incident prior to UFC 187.

Jones had been scheduled to headline the UFC's biggest card of the year against Anthony "Rumble" Johnson, but instead was suspended indefinitely and stripped of the light heavyweight title. That belt is now around the waist of Daniel Cormier, who Jones defeated handily in January.

Jones' hit-and-run came on the heels of a failed drug test in December 2013. Prior to fighting Cormier, Jones' drug test turned up positive for cocaine, although he was still allowed to fight.

McGregor did not pretend he is a saint outside the octagon, but he said he maintains a close-knit circle of friends he trusts, and makes sure he never drives if he plans on having drinks.

"I cannot put myself in that. So I keep my people who are with me around and have been around from Day One," McGregor said. As for designated driver duties?

"I just try to understand the situation. I can't understand it. Get a driver! If I go out now I'm driven a f----ing limo. You've got money," McGregor said. "It's just a weird situation and I wish him well and I hope he gets his head together and comes back because he's a great man, he's a great champion and I wish him well."
