Real Madrid Transfer News: Karim Benzema Must Be Sold to Make Way for Sergio Aguero

Unfortunately for Karim Benzema, Sergio Aguero has carried his stellar form to the Copa America, reigniting Real Madrid's interest in his services.

According to the Daily Mail, Aguero has a contract with Manchester City until 2019 and will cost Madrid well over £50 million. Per the report, selling Benzema will help circumvent the cost; however, it should be of note that another center forward is not on the list of priorities newly appointed manager Rafa Benitez has given president Florentino Perez.

The reason: Benitez's desire to transform Cristiano Ronaldo from CR7 to CR9.

Regardless of his transfer policies, Benitez has made one thing abundantly clear: the goal is to improve in 2015.

"The President is quite clear, as I am (via Mirror). "Being first is the only thing that matters. We have to win everything that is possible. Experience is not what happens to us, but what we do with what happens to us. We have to make the best of every stage."

"The coach is always unsatisfied. I want to improve and avoid past mistakes."

One way to avoid past mistakes to secure Aguero's transfer. Madrid had the opportunity to sign the 27-year-old in 2012, but failed to do so, an opportunity Aguero wouldn't have passed on.

If Real Madrid had been interested in me, then I would be here. I had no option but to join City," Aguero told ESPN. "I want to take this opportunity to refute the information where I supposedly said that I would never play for Real Madrid because I played at Atletico [Madrid]. It was published in an English newspaper."

Aguero finished last season with 26 goals in 33 league appearances.
