Wimbledon 2015 Rumors: Eugenie Bouchard Didn't Realize 10 Losses in 11 Matches Equated a Slump? [VIDEO]

Maybe it's her continued attempt to get on the same page with her new coach. Maybe she's frustrated or so caught up in the moment that she hasn't seen the bigger picture until now.

Maybe it's all of the above.

Serena Williams heavy Wimbledon favorite despite bizarre 2014 exit

The Guardian has reported that Eugenie Bouchard, the 2014 darling of women's tennis who success rate in 2015 has dropped dramatically, had to be told that she's in the middle of a horrendous slump.

Bouchard, who advanced to the semifinals of the first three Grand Slam events in 2014 - including the finals of the French Open, had lost 10 of 11 matches before securing a huge win in her opening match Tuesday at the AEGON International tournament -- the final tuneup for next week's Wimbledon -- in Eastbourne, England against American Alison Riske.

French Open implosion at French Open adds to Eugenie Bouchard 2015 woes

Her 7-6 (5), 6-3 win reversed her last two appearances on grass - losses in the Netherlands and in Birmingham, England.

As for her previous skid, Bouchard said she thought of it as merely adjusting to new coach Sam Sumyk, who took over after the Australian Open as her coach.

"At the beginning I was really impatient," she told the Guardian. "I expected this year to be like last year and even better. But as it's gone on, I've realized, maybe it is a slump, I'm in a little downward curve and it's actually normal because first of all everyone told me it's going to happen and then everyone's telling me it's happening right now, so maybe it actually is."

She does admit that she's been more in tune to what critics have been saying about her game this year, especially concerning her increased involvement in a modeling capacity. She took the opportunity to fire back against some of the naysayers.

"I have heard lots of comments like that," says Bouchard, who adds that modeling is hard work. "I didn't realize I had to be playing tennis 24 hours a day. If I'm not doing a shoot, then maybe I'll just be at the mall - does that mean I'm not allowed to go to the mall anymore? Am I not allowed to go to a movie or not watch another sport? There are always going to be people who disagree with what you do but that means at least you stood up for something and did something in your life."
