Usain Bolt News: Olympic Medalist Will Not Compete in Jamaican Championships, Still Expected at World Championships in Beijing

Don't expect to see Usain Bolt in Kingston on Thursday. According to NBC Sports, the six-time Olympic gold medalist will not compete in the Jamaican Championships this weekend after being on the start list for the 100m.

Sources told Andre Lowe trials were always just an option for Bolt. Coach Glen Mills, however, decided against it, citing no injury concerns.

Bolt does not have to compete at the Jamaican Championships to be eligible for the World Champions in Beijing in late August. It is then he is expected to attempt to defend his 100m and 200m titles.

Just two weeks ago, Bolt earned a narrow victory at the Adidas Grand Prix at Icahn Stadium. His finish of 20.29 seconds was a more than a second faster than his world record (19.19). Ideal for some, but not to the caliber of the Jamaican star, who called it the worst turn in his career.

"I'm definitely not happy about my performance today," Bolt said (via NY Post). "My turn was horrible. I don't know what happened. I really can't explain. It was really bad. It was probably one of the worst turns I've ever run in my entire life. The worst, for sure. The worst ever."

"I ran to 150," he added. "I knew it wasn't going to be a good time because of the turn I ran. After the turn, I pretty much gave up. I have no idea [why]. I'm still kind of baffled over what happened.''

His next scheduled race is July 4 at the Paris Diamond League in Paris.
