Russell Wilson doesn't want to be the highest-paid NFL player of all-time. He just wants to be the highest-paid player when he signs his contract.
Wilson has led the Seahawks to back-to-back Super Bowl appearances, with the franchise just one yard short of having back-to-back Super Bowl wins.

Bleacher Report's Jason Cole is reporting that the Seattle Seahawks is seeking more money than the deal given to Green Bay Packers signal-caller Aaron Rodgers.
"The contract demands by agent Mark Rogers have exceeded the five-year, $110 million deal that Aaron Rogers signed with the Green Bay Packers," Cole said.

Cole added that Rogers has not denied seeking the richest contract in NFL history but believes that Wilson's contract simply will be part of a contact "explosion" for quarterbacks that the agent believes will be surpassed eventually by an Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts, and Eli Manning of the New York Giants or by Rodgers' next contract with the Packers.
CBS Sports reported that time is on Wilson's side. If he signs a long-term deal now, he could lose out on that potential "explosion."
"A potential boom in the salary cap is a major issue for Wilson if he takes less money now, far less of an issue for the Seahawks. Their biggest problem is allowing this to drag on too long and allowing a salary-cap boom to create space that would justify paying Wilson what he wants.
"The other issue is how expensive Wilson will be to keep around moving forward. If he plays out his rookie deal, Wilson will be subject to the franchise tag, which would net him (and cost the Seahawks) about $25 million guaranteed in 2016 and north of $30 million guaranteed in 2017 should they choose to exercise it each year."
The $55 million Wilson would receive under such a circumstance is $1 million more than the guaranteed money Rodgers received in his 2013 contract, CBS Sports added.
