Alex Rodriguez Hires Legal Team That Worked On IMF Executive Dominique Strauss-Kahn Case To Fight MLB Suspension

Alex Rodriguez has hired the same high-powered, private law firm used by International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn in his ongoing performance enhancing drugs themed battle with Major League Baseball.

New York-based Guideposts Solutions proved successful in aiding Strauss-Kahn to fend off rape charges after they were able to obtain damaging information about Nafissatou Diallo, the hotel worker who lodged the charges against him.

According to NewYorkMag.com, as he continues to take the field for the New York Yankees and eagerly awaits an appeal ruling on his 211-game suspension, Rodriguez is hoping Guideposts investigators can have the same kind of impact on his case.

“Old-fashioned detective work” Guidepost lead attorney Bart Schwartz told New York Magazine earlier this year of how his investigators were able to break open the Strauss-Kahn case. Schwartz added his team of investigators was suspicious of the plaintiff from the start and surveillance footage obtained from the hotel only raised their concerns all the more.

"It was evidence that something was wrong with the story being told,” he said. In recent weeks, many of those same attorneys have been working hand-in-hand with Rodriguez to mount his defense.

"I'm fighting for my life,” Rodriguez told reporters earlier this week after the league announced its decision. “I have to defend myself. If I don't defend myself, no one else will."
