Tim Tebow fans need to make the Eagles’ first preseason game appointment viewing. Sam Bradford is going to sit out the first week of the preseason, leaving plenty of snaps for Tebow and Matt Barkley to duke it out for the No. 3 quarterback spot.
“Sam will not play. It’s my decision, we’ve been back-and-forth on it, but I made the final call, said Eagles coach Chip Kelly, according to ESPN Radio in South Jersey. "Mark will start, won’t play very much, it will be a lot of Matt and a lot Tim, so we’ll get to see those guys in extended play."

It has been reported that Tebow has outperformed Barkley through OTAs and the early part of training camp, but Tebow is currently listed as Philadelphia’s No. 4 QB, per CBS Sports.
Barkley has had more time in Chip Kelly’s system than Tebow, and spoke in May with confidence about his standing within the organization.

"He's not taking my reps on the field," Barkley said at the time. "He's an arm we need for the team. ... Tim's just one of us. He's trying to make the team just like we all are. It hasn't affected my approach to how I feel the team thinks of me or how I'm going out to compete every day."
Tebow has much more fanfare than Barkley, but he has a few key disadvantages, too. He has not played in the NFL since 2012, he’s the least experienced QB in camp in terms of knowing Kelly’s offense, and he’s one of the worst throwers the NFL has ever seen.
Tebow has completed fewer than half his pass attempts in the NFL, and threw just eight times in 2012 with the Jets, where he also was a teammate of current Eagles backup Mark Sanchez. Tebow was 6-of-8 with Gang Green, but a few of those attempts were trick plays out of punt formations. In 2011, when he started 11 games, Tebow completed 46.5 percent of his passes and got sacked 33 times.
Barkley has much less experience than Tebow. He has started zero games in his career, and only has 50 passes under his belt. Of those 50 passes, four were picked off, and none were touchdowns. Tebow may not be able to throw, but he is entertaining, and ultimately has the leg up on Barkley.
