NFL Relocation Update: Rams Move Ahead In Race To Los Angeles In 2016 [VIDEO]

The Rams' relocation efforts received a couple of boosts in their race against the Chargers and Raiders.

None of the franchises' current markets -- St. Louis, San Diego nor Oakland -- have met "satisfactory" criteria in retaining their teams with concrete proposals for improved stadium facilities, NFL.com reported Tuesday.

NFL To Consider Only One Relocation Plan

St. Louis had been considered far and away the closest among the three cities to come up with a plan that would satisfy NFL owners who will vote to determine who gets to relocate to the West Coast, as the city has outlined plans for a riverfront stadium valued at almost $1 billion.

But Cowboys owner Jerry Jones gushed about the qualities of Rams owner Stan Kroenke, who is planning to build a $1.8 billion stadium in Inglewood that would host the Rams and another tenant.

Rams Owner Blows Up Hollywood Park To Make Way For New Stadium

"Since I was born in Inglewood, since I'm a favorite son of El Segundo -- and if you go down through there you can probably find 15 or 20 relatives of some distance back -- so I've got a lot of background in California. I'm a real fan of Stan Kroenke," Jones said after the teams' joint workout Monday. "I'm really a fan of Los Angeles and having the NFL have a major posture relative to the sports scene in Los Angeles.

"Stan is outstanding. He's been outstanding in the NFL and he's the kind of people you want to be with."

The Raiders and Chargers are collaborating on efforts to build a stadium in Carson, Calif., estimated at $1.7 billion.

Meanwhile CBS Sports is reporting that both the Chargers and Raiders have agreed they would leave the AFC West if the owners didn't want division rivals sharing the same stadium.

But that would force not only division but also conference realignment that the owners might have a hard time approving. What team would volunteer leaving the AFC West to go to the NFC West? The league has not revised any of its divisions since 2002, when the Texans were an expansion franchise.
